Woke up this morning and decided we’d head out to see some sights. Rowdy looked up a place called the Grand Palace, where the King of Thailand used to live, and we decided to go there.

First we needed to get some food, so we took off for a little cafe near our hostel for breakfast. We got a local dish called “Congee” which was egg, sausage, ginger and mushrooms on top of a paste like substance. While that doesn’t sound super appealing, it was actually really good.

To get there, we had to take a river boat for about 20 minutes. Although the river water itself is pretty nasty, it was really nice to be on the water and see the city from this perspective.

Once we got to the Grand Palace, we walked through the grounds for a bit, taking in the sights. The Palace itself was built in the 1800’s, and every inch of the place is stoned to the gods and has mosaics for days.

As gorgeous as this was, it was so busy, and so hot, so we got out of there pretty quick. We hung around in this area for a bit before heading out though, grabbing a smoothie and some ramen before heading back to our hostel.
